The Indian Coast Guard has invited offline applications for 3 Chargeman posts (Group ‘B’ civilian personnel) at its Okha, Diglipur and New Mangalore units. The form window runs from 10 October to 24 November 2026, and there is no application fee.

Three traps, all in the envelope, decide whether your form is even read. First, the form goes by ordinary post only — not speed post, not courier, not by hand. Second, you must enclose a separate blank envelope addressed to yourself with a Rs. 50 postal stamp pasted on it. That envelope is how your admit card reaches you, because admit cards for this recruitment are sent by ordinary post. Miss the stamp, and you may never hear back. Third, superscribe the main envelope in bold letters with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CHARGEMAN” and mention your category. A plain, unmarked envelope is an avoidable risk.

Vacancy and Pay

There are 3 Chargeman posts in total. The listing shows 02 UR and 01 SC posts, with PwBD reservation applied horizontally. Pay is at Level-6, Rs. 35,400 – 1,12,400. The posts are at Okha, Diglipur and New Mangalore units — confirm the unit-wise allocation from the official notification, as the listing does not break the three posts down by unit.

Who Can Apply

You need a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Electronics or Production Engineering, plus 2 years of experience in hull repair, general engineering, or the electrical/electronics trade. A diploma without that two years of relevant experience does not meet the bar — experience is part of the qualification here, not a bonus.

Age is 18 to 30 years as on 24 November 2026. Relaxation is 5 years for SC candidates and 10 to 15 years for PwD candidates as per the listing — check the notification for the exact PwD relaxation applicable to your category.

Exam Pattern

After scrutiny of applications and document verification at the examination centre, there is a pen-paper written examination of 80 marks, with no negative marking. The pattern is:

Subject Questions Marks
Mathematics 20 20
Science 20 20
General Awareness 15 15
English 15 15
Mental Ability / Reasoning 10 10
Total 80 80

Duration is 1 hour. With no negative marking, attempting every question costs you nothing — leaving questions blank is the only sure way to lose marks you could have guessed.

After the written examination comes a merit list and a final medical examination.

How to Apply Offline

  1. Download the prescribed offline application format given at Annexure-1 of the official notification.
  2. Fill in all particulars carefully in English or Hindi, in block capital letters, and affix a self-attested passport-size photograph.
  3. Attach self-attested photocopies of your Aadhaar card, 10th marksheet, diploma marksheet and certificate, experience certificate, and caste certificate if applicable.
  4. Enclose two recent colour passport-size photographs and a separate blank envelope with a Rs. 50 postal stamp pasted on it, addressed to yourself.
  5. Superscribe the main envelope in bold letters: “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CHARGEMAN”, and mention your category.
  6. Send the completed form with all enclosures by ordinary post only, on or before 24 November 2026, to: The Director General, {For PD (Rectt)}, Coast Guard Headquarters, Directorate of Recruitment, C-1, Phase II, Industrial Area, Sector-62, Noida, U.P. – 201309.
