The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, has invited offline applications for 23 teaching posts — 15 Assistant Professor (or equivalent) and 8 Associate Professor (or equivalent) — under Advertisement No. E-II-II-09/2026/17387/UAT, dated 30 October 2026. The completed application must reach the Registrar by 25 November 2026. For university teachers, this is a compact, well-paid drive; it is also one where a small procedural slip can get a good application rejected.

The trap most applicants will miss: one post, one application

The notification says candidates should submit a separate application for each post. If you are eligible for two subjects and send a single combined application, you risk both being treated as incomplete. Decide your posts first, prepare a separate set for each, and pay the fee separately for each.

The second procedural trap is the envelope. The notification asks applicants to superscribe the envelope with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF …” along with the advertisement number and date. An unmarked envelope in a university registrar’s office, in the middle of a recruitment season, is an avoidable risk. Write it clearly on the outside.

The third is the fee receipt. The fee — Rs. 700 for Assistant Professor and Rs. 1,000 for Associate Professor — is paid through the Green Channel Counter, internet banking or RTGS, and the original counter foil of the fee deposited must go inside the application. A fee paid but not evidenced is, for practical purposes, a fee not paid.

Vacancies at a glance

Post group Posts Starting pay
Assistant Professor (or equivalent) 15 Cell-1, Level-10 — Rs. 57,700 per month
Associate Professor (or equivalent) 8 Cell-1, Level-13A — Rs. 1,31,400 per month
Total 23

The Assistant Professor subjects are Agronomy (3 posts), Horticulture (2), Genetics and Plant Breeding (2), and one each in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Extension Education, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Statistics, Agricultural Engineering (FMPE/REE) and Animal Husbandry (LPM/Veterinary Extension Education). The Associate Professor posts cover Agronomy, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Horticulture, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Extension Education and Agricultural Economics — one each.

Who is eligible

For Assistant Professor, the requirement is a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in the concerned subject with 55% marks, along with NET or a Ph.D.; a Ph.D. in the concerned subject is listed as desirable. For Associate Professor, the requirement is a Ph.D. in the concerned subject with 8 years of experience. The general age limit is 42 years as on the last date of application. Candidates already in service must apply through the proper channel with a No Objection Certificate — another detail that takes time, so do not leave it for the last week.

Selection is by written test and interview for Assistant Professor, and by interview on API for Associate Professor. The notification gives the full post-wise conditions, and it is the document that governs — check it on the university website before you apply, especially for the subject-wise eligibility table, which is long and specific.

How to apply

  1. Download the application form and information sheet from the university website.
  2. Deposit the fee (Rs. 700 or Rs. 1,000, as applicable) through the Green Channel Counter, internet banking or RTGS, and keep the original counter foil.
  3. Fill the form, attach self-attested copies of all academic certificates, experience certificate, caste or PwD certificate if applicable, proof of age, and the fee receipt.
  4. Superscribe the envelope with the post applied for, the advertisement number and the date.
  5. Send it by speed post or registered post to the Registrar, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, 751003, Odisha, so that it reaches by 25 November 2026.

With only 23 posts spread across 19 subject roles, most subjects have a single seat. That makes the subject-wise category table worth checking before you choose: a seat reserved for another category cannot be claimed by hoping. Read the notification, match your subject and category exactly, and send the application early enough that a postal delay cannot undo it.
