ECHS Bengaluru Recruitment 2026: 30 Posts – Peon, Chowkidar, Clerk, Pharmacist & Others | Apply Offline by 2 November

Station Headquarters (ECHS Cell), Bengaluru has invited offline applications for 30 contractual posts in ECHS polyclinics under its area — Peon, Chowkidar, Safai Karmchari, Female Attendant, Driver, Clerk / Data Entry Operator, Pharmacist, Nursing Assistant, Lab Assistant, Lab Technician and Dental Hygienist. There is no application fee, and both men and women can apply. The filled application, with self-attested copies of documents, must reach the Station Headquarters office by 2 November 2026.

Before you start filling the form, read the eligibility table carefully — for most of these posts, the certificate alone is not enough. Almost every post also demands years of work experience, and that condition is where most applications quietly get rejected.

Vacancy Details – Post, Salary, Polyclinic & Eligibility

The advertisement prints polyclinic codes (A to F) against each post instead of city names. The table below keeps those codes, and the city each code stands for is decoded in the next section.

Pharmacist carries the most vacancies (5), followed by Safai Karmchari and Dental Hygienist (4 each). The medical and technical posts — Pharmacist, Nursing Assistant, Lab Assistant, Lab Technician and Dental Hygienist — all pay ₹36,500 a month, the highest slab in this advertisement.

Which City Is Each Post In? Polyclinic Codes Decoded

This is the detail most applicants skip, and it matters: the post you apply for fixes the city you will work in. There is no common Bengaluru posting — only two of the six polyclinics are in Bengaluru.

CodePolyclinic
AMadikeri
BBRV Bengaluru
CMangaluru
DShivamogga
EVirajapete
FBengaluru Whitefield

Read together with the vacancy table, this changes the picture completely. The single Nursing Assistant post and the single Lab Technician post are both at Mangaluru only. Peon vacancies exist only at Madikeri and Bengaluru Whitefield. The Clerk / Data Entry Operator posts are at Mangaluru, Shivamogga and Bengaluru Whitefield — not at BRV Bengaluru. Apply for the post only if you are genuinely willing to work in that city, because the polyclinic shown against the post is where the engagement will be.

The Experience Condition Most Applicants Will Miss

Holding the required certificate does not make you eligible by itself. The advertisement adds a separate work-experience condition:

  • Pharmacist and Lab Technician – minimum 3 years of work experience.
  • All other posts except Chowkidar – minimum 5 years of work experience.
  • Chowkidar – experience is not compulsory.

So an 8th-pass candidate applying for Peon, or a fresh DMLT holder applying for Lab Assistant, does not meet the conditions even though the education column matches. Your experience certificate is part of the compulsory enclosures (see the documents list below) — if you cannot produce one for the required years, the application will not survive scrutiny. Only candidates who fulfil all the eligibility conditions should apply.

Who Gets Preference? Read This Before Applying as a Civilian

These are ECHS posts, and the preference order is written into the advertisement itself. For every post, eligible ex-servicemen, war widows and veer naris are considered first. Applications of civilian candidates will be considered only when eligible candidates from those categories are not available for a post.

The contract terms differ too:

  • Posts are filled on contract basis initially for 12 months.
  • A civilian appointee’s engagement will be for 11 months.

None of this means civilians should not apply — several of these posts do go to civilians when ESM candidates are unavailable, especially the technical ones. But go in with the right expectation: your application is genuinely in the queue, just not at the front of it.

Age Limit

  • Peon, Chowkidar, Safai Karmchari, Female Attendant, Driver, Clerk / Data Entry Operator: 18–53 years
  • Pharmacist, Nursing Assistant, Lab Assistant, Lab Technician, Dental Hygienist: 18–56 years
  • Age will be calculated as on the last date of application (2 November 2026).

Selection Process – Interview on 10 & 11 November (Tentative)

There is no written exam. Selection is through an interview at ECHS Headquarters (Station Headquarters), and the interview is tentatively scheduled for 10 and 11 November 2026.

Three things to note:

  1. Only candidates who fulfil the eligibility conditions will be called, and the intimation will come only by e-mail / mobile message. There is no separate call letter by post — so the mobile number and e-mail ID you write in the form must be active and correct.
  2. On the interview day, carry all original documents, the medical fitness certificate and 2 passport-size photographs.
  3. No TA/DA will be paid to any candidate for attending the interview.

How to Apply Offline – Step by Step

  1. Get the prescribed application form from your local form seller and read the instructions fully before filling anything.
  2. Fill all columns clearly in English capital letters. Write the post name exactly as given in the advertisement.
  3. Attach self-attested photocopies of the documents listed below. Do not send original certificates with the application.
  4. On the envelope, you must write: “Application for the post of ……” (the post you are applying for).
  5. Do not attach the instruction sheet to the form — the advertisement specifically says to keep it with yourself.
  6. Send the application by post so that it reaches on or before 2 November 2026 at this address:

Officer-in-Charge, Station Headquarters, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS Cell), Cubbon Road, Bengaluru – 560001 (Karnataka)

Apply early rather than in the last two days — the condition is that the application must reach the office by 2 November, not merely be posted by then.

Documents to Enclose (Self-Attested Copies Only)

  1. All educational and professional qualification certificates
  2. Date of birth proof (8th / 10th certificate or other educational certificate)
  3. Caste certificate (if you belong to a reserved category)
  4. Character certificate, residence certificate and experience certificate
  5. Copy of the ex-serviceman certificate (if you are an ex-serviceman)
  6. Medical / Pharmacy Council registration (if required for the post)
  7. Copies of Aadhaar Card and PAN Card
  8. Medical fitness certificate
  9. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer, if applicable

FAQs – ECHS Bengaluru Recruitment 2026

Q1. What is the last date for ECHS Bengaluru Recruitment 2026?
Your application must reach the Officer-in-Charge, Station HQ (ECHS Cell), Cubbon Road, Bengaluru – 560001 on or before 2 November 2026. Posting it on 2 November is not enough — it has to be delivered by that date.

Q2. Is there any application fee?
No. The advertisement clearly states there is no application fee for any post.

Q3. I am a civilian. Can I apply?
Yes, civilians can apply. But eligible ex-servicemen, war widows and veer naris get first preference for every post, and civilian applications are considered only when candidates from those categories are not available. A civilian appointee also gets an 11-month engagement instead of 12 months.

Q4. I have the required qualification but no work experience. Am I eligible?
For Chowkidar, yes — experience is not compulsory there. For Pharmacist and Lab Technician you need at least 3 years of experience, and for every other post at least 5 years. Without the required experience, the application will be rejected at scrutiny even if your qualification matches.

Q5. Where will I be posted if I apply for the Nursing Assistant post?
At the Mangaluru polyclinic (code C) — it is the only polyclinic listed against that post. Always check the polyclinic codes against the post before applying: A is Madikeri, B is BRV Bengaluru, C is Mangaluru, D is Shivamogga, E is Virajapete and F is Bengaluru Whitefield.

Q6. How will I know if I am called for the interview?
The interview call will be sent only by e-mail / mobile message, and the interview is tentatively fixed for 10 and 11 November 2026 at ECHS Headquarters. Carry all original documents, the medical fitness certificate and 2 passport-size photographs, and note that no TA/DA is paid.

Q7. Should I send my original certificates with the application?
No. Send only self-attested photocopies. Originals are needed only on the interview day. Also remember to write “Application for the post of ……” on the envelope and to fill the form in English capital letters.

Note: This article is based on the recruitment advertisement issued by Station Headquarters (ECHS Cell), Bengaluru (also published in The Hindu, Bengaluru edition, dated 11 October). Candidates are advised to read the official advertisement carefully before applying, as the department’s notified information will be treated as final.
