DFS Goa Recruitment 2026: 24 Forensic Posts, Salary up to ₹60,800, Offline Form

November 1, 2026 Offline Jobs
DFS Goa recruitment 2026 notification for 24 forensic posts including Scientific Officer, Scientific Assistant, Searcher, Photographer and Videographer, salary up to Rs 60800 per month, offline application, last date 17 November 2026

The Directorate of Forensic Sciences (DFS), Department of Home, Government of Goa, has invited offline applications for 24 contractual posts at its Verna centre — Scientific Officer, Scientific Assistant, Searcher, Photographer and Videographer. Advertisement No. 2/2026/DFS/VRN/Recruit-130 is dated 26 October 2026, and the form must reach Verna by 17 November 2026, 5:30 PM.

Read the traps first, because this is not a normal lab job. Every post here carries 24×7 crime scene duty — Saturdays, Sundays and holidays included, at any hour. The contract ends automatically after one year (or earlier, when regular posts are filled). Late applications are rejected without any intimation. And if you apply for two posts, you must send two separate applications — one form covering two posts will not work.

The Konkani Condition — Do Not Skip This

Knowledge of Konkani is essential for nearly every post here. The notice allows relaxation only if no suitable candidate with Konkani knowledge is available, on the Selection Committee’s recommendation. If you do not know Konkani, treat this as a real risk, not a formality.

The Vision Standard — A Silent Rejection Rule

For Scientific Officer (SOC), Scientific Assistant (DNA) and Searcher (SOC), the vision standard is strict: distant vision 6/6 in each eye, near vision 0.5, full field of vision in each eye. Candidates with uniocular vision, amblyopia, colour blindness, squint, any morbid condition of the eyes or lids, or a perforated ear drum will be disqualified. Check this before applying, not after.

Age Limit and Fee — What the Notice Does Not Say

The notice summary does not specify an age limit or an application fee for these posts. Do not assume either — confirm both from the official notification before sending your form.

What the Job Actually Involves

All contract staff must visit crime scenes across Goa round the clock, at any time, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Scientific Officers oversee the forensic team, assign and review work, ensure quality assurance, prepare crime scene reports and give evidence in court as expert witnesses. Scientific Assistants examine and compare evidence, manage exhibits from receipt to dispatch, maintain laboratory equipment and registers, and assist at crime scenes. Searchers assist in collecting fingerprint evidence. Photographers and Videographers carry out photography and videography at crime scenes and give evidence in court as witnesses.
