DGQA CQA Kanpur Recruitment 2026: 32 Technician Posts (Skilled & Semi-Skilled) – 10th Pass + ITI, Apply Offline by 6 November

The Controllerate of Quality Assurance (General Stores), Kanpur — part of the DGQA, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence — has invited offline applications for 32 Technician posts across its Kanpur units and the SQAE (GS) establishments in New Delhi and Shahjahanpur. If you are 10th pass with an ITI certificate, this is a central government defence-production job with no application fee at all, and both men and women can apply.

Read the full advertisement carefully before filling the form, because this recruitment has two unusual conditions most candidates miss: the filled Admit Card (in two copies) must be sent along with the application itself, and the form must be typed in Arial font (size 12) and printed on both sides of A-4 paper. The last date for the application to reach Kanpur is 6 November 2026.

Which Unit Has Your Category? Check Before You Apply

This is not one common vacancy pool. Each unit has its own posts, and not every category is available in every unit. The unit-wise reservation position printed in the advertisement is:

UnitSkilledSemi-Skilled
CQA (GS) KanpurUR, OBCUR
CQA (T&C) Kanpur–UR
CQA (M) KanpurURUR, OBC, EWS
CQA (PP) Kanpur–UR, EWS
SQAE (GS) KanpurOBC, SCUR, OBC, EWS
SQAE (GS) New Delhi–OBC, EWS
SQAE (GS) ShahjahanpurUR, EWSOBC, SC

Why this matters: if you are an SC candidate applying for the Skilled post, SQAE (GS) Kanpur is your only option — no other unit has an SC seat in Skilled. Similarly, EWS candidates have no Skilled seat in Kanpur’s CQA units except SQAE (GS) Shahjahanpur. Choose your unit from this table first, then check the trade list below.

ITI Trades Accepted

For Technician (Skilled): COPA, Computer Hardware & Networking, Cutting & Sewing, Electrician, Fitter, Information Technology & Electronics System Maintenance, Instrument Mechanic, Painter, Machinist, Pattern Maker, Plumber, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Tool & Die Maker and Tool & Die (Jig & Fixture).

For Technician (Semi-Skilled): Book Binder, Carpenter, COPA, Computer Hardware & Networking, Cutting & Sewing, Electrician, Fitter, Information Technology & Electronics System Maintenance, Instrument Mechanic, Painter, Plumber, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Tool & Die Maker and Tool & Die (Jig & Fixture).

Notice the small but decisive difference: Machinist and Pattern Maker appear only in the Skilled list, while Book Binder and Carpenter appear only in the Semi-Skilled list. Applying for a post whose trade list does not contain your ITI trade is a straight rejection.

Skilled vs Semi-Skilled – Which One Should You Choose?

Both posts need 10th pass + ITI and carry the same 18–27 age limit. Only two things actually differ:

  1. Experience: Skilled demands 1 year of work experience in the trade, and the experience certificate copy is on the documents list. Semi-Skilled asks for no experience at all.
  2. Pay: Skilled starts higher — ₹19,900 against ₹18,000, and tops out at ₹63,200 against ₹56,900.

So the decision is simple. If you hold a genuine one-year experience certificate, apply for Skilled — better pay for the same application effort. If you are a fresh ITI pass-out, apply for Semi-Skilled only; a Skilled application without the experience proof invites rejection at the scrutiny stage itself.

The Admit-Card Trap Most Applicants Will Miss

In most offline recruitments, the department sends you the admit card later. Not here. This advertisement instructs you to fill the Admit Card (Pravesh Patra) and send two copies of it inside the same envelope as your application, with your self-signed photograph pasted on it. If those two admit cards are missing, your application is incomplete from day one — no matter how perfect the rest of the form is.

Documents to Attach (Self-Attested Copies Only)

Send self-attested photocopies with the application. Do not send original certificates.

  1. All educational and technical qualification certificates
  2. Date-of-birth proof – 10th certificate or other educational qualification certificate
  3. Caste certificate copy (for reserved-category candidates)
  4. One self-addressed envelope with a ₹60 postage stamp, your full postal address written on it
  5. Experience certificate copy (compulsory for the Skilled post)
  6. Aadhaar card copy (with address)
  7. Ex-serviceman / PwD certificate copy, where applicable

How to Apply – Step by Step

  1. Type the application form on a computer in Arial font, size 12, and print it on A-4 size white paper, front and back (both sides).
  2. Fill every column in clear English capital letters. No cutting and no overwriting anywhere on the form.
  3. Paste your photograph on the application form and sign across the photo yourself; do the same on both admit cards.
  4. Sign every page of the application form.
  5. Fill two copies of the Admit Card and place them in the envelope with the application.
  6. Keep the printed instruction sheet with yourself — the advertisement clearly says do not attach it to the application.
  7. Attach the self-attested documents listed above, including the ₹60-stamped self-addressed envelope.
  8. On the application envelope, write in English capital letters: “Application for the post of Technician (Skilled) or (Semi Skilled), Trade … Category …”
  9. Send it by ordinary post or speed post so that it reaches on or before 6 November 2026 at:

The Controller, Controllerate of Quality Assurance (General Stores), DGQA Stores Complex, Ashok Path, Meerpur Cantt, Kanpur – 208004 (UP)

5 Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected in This Recruitment

  1. Applying for Skilled without the 1-year experience certificate – the experience proof is part of the eligibility, not a formality.
  2. Wrong trade–post combination – Machinist and Pattern Maker have no Semi-Skilled seat; Book Binder and Carpenter have no Skilled seat.
  3. Ignoring the unit–category table – your category may simply not exist in the unit you applied to.
  4. Forgetting the two filled admit cards or the ₹60-stamped self-addressed envelope – both go inside the same envelope as the application.
  5. Printing single-sided, hand-writing the form, or leaving a page unsigned – the format is prescribed: Arial 12, both sides of A-4, signature on every page.
